EXPANSIVE CLINICAL TRIAL PROGRAMS
Our network of expert physicians and medical researchers strive to deliver cutting-edge medicine to our patients. Our physician investigators are involved in both industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated research. We participate in Phase II, III and IV clinical trials at our many locations across Southern California.
RESEARCH COST GUIDANCE
We understand that treating cancer can put a financial strain on those individuals receiving treatment. Our involvement with Oncology Health Economics and Outcomes Programs enables us to keep up-to-date with current socioeconomic challenges faced by patients in our communities with rising costs associated with cancer care.
A clinical trial is a research study designed to evaluate potential new treatment options. These studies are the result of a long and deliberate cancer research process that often takes years. Clinical trials test the safety and effectiveness of new or modified cancer drugs, new drug doses, unique approaches to surgery or radiation therapy, and varied combinations of treatments.
Phase II Trials: Conducted to determine the effectiveness of the treatment in a specific patient population at the dose and schedules determined in phase I. Drugs or therapies that are shown to be active during this phase may become standard treatment or be further evaluated for effectiveness in phase III trials.
Phase III Trials: At this phase a new drug or therapy is compared with a standard therapy in a randomized and controlled manner in order to determine proof of effectiveness. The phase requires a large number of patients to measure the statistical validity of the results.
Phase IV Trials: At this stage the trial drug has already been approved by the FDA. The drug treatment will continue to be extensively studied and evaluated within a larger sample group of people.
